Let’s Go, De-Fence, Let’s Go!

Fall has arrived. Football is back, there is a chill in the air and best of all… there is a fence in our yard! After weeks of frustrating or boring maintenance projects, we finally got something obvious, fabulous, and new.

And after weeks of on leash potty walks and two years of a cramped temporary yard, this is really really exciting for me. I might be as excited as Dash and I’m almost more excited than Delta.

You can almost hear the heavenly theme music.

The fence is 330′ of fantastic. We hired Burns Fencing for the installation. 80′ from the back right corner of the house, 100′ across the back, 100′ along the field, 50′ up to the left front corner of the house. We opted for multiple gates because we didn’t want to cut off easy access to the rest of the property. There is a “drive through” gate, a 4′ gate to the field and firepit, and a 3′ gate to the front yard. The posts are galvanized steel and the chain link is coated in black vinyl.

Who is photobombing who?

Verdict: As a nice change of pace, this contractor interaction was a success – we made one easy adjustment to the agreement when we sent in the deposit, we got on the schedule faster than expected, the fence looks like we expected, and it only took one day to put in! We have one small question to ask, but we’re happy with the work regardless. Next up? We stop hemorrhaging money, settle in to the changes, and do some small projects on our own.
